Distribution According to Year : Grantees from 1995 - 2007

The total number of grantees supported by the DETY Educational Benefit Program has constantly increased from the start of donations in 1995 to present, as presented in the graph.

From 173 grantees in SY 1995-1996, the number has significantly climbed up to 1,158 grantees in SY 2007-2008.

For the span of 12 years, an average increase of 43% in the number of grantees every school year has been achieved.

Distribution According to Educational Level

In the table, the distribution of grantees according to the educational level from 1995 to 2007 is presented.

College Graduates from 1995 – 2006

To date, a total of 284 grantees supported by the DETY Educational Benefit Program graduated from college. The distribution of the college graduates according to year is presented in the graph. The highest number of college graduates, totaling to 92 grantees, was reached in 2003.

For SY 2006-2007, a total of 71 grantees have newly graduated from college.

Grantees for SY 2007-2008: Distribution According to Geographic Area

For SY 2007-2008, a total of 1,158 grantees in the different educational levels have been provided with stipend by the DETY Educational Benefit Program.

The pie chart shows that majority of the grantees, representing 35% (411 grantees), are residing in the different localities in Luzon . Trailing behind are grantees living in Mindanao , translating to 32% (373 grantees).

Grantees in NCR and Visayas comprise 18% (205 grantees) and 15% (169 grantees), respectively.

Distribution According to Branch of Service

The bulk of our grantees, comprising 68% (792 grantees) are children of military personnel in the Philippine Army.

The turn-out of this data is expected since the Philippine Army are considered the ground troops of the AFP and therefore, possesses the greater number of killed or incapacitated military personnel.

The grantees whose parent-soldiers belongs to the Philippine Navy follows behind with 15% (168 grantees). The Philippine Air Force has 10% (118 grantees) and the Philippine Constabulary and the Technical Service has 7% (80 grantees.)

Distribution According to Educational Level

In terms of distribution according to educational level, majority of the grantees which comprises 52% of the total number are in the college level.

This is followed by high school level grantees which is 33% and elementary level grantees which is 15%.

Utilization of the DETY Fund

From 1995 to present, the donations of Dr. Yap have totaled to Php23M. The prudent investment through the years has enhanced the DETY fund by Php15.87M.

From the total amount of donations augmented with the interest earnings, the scholarship payments extended to the DETY Educational Benefit Program grantees amount to Php31.02M for the past 11 years.

As of December 2006, the fund balance of the DETY Fund amounts to Php7.8M. With the income from this fund, the AFPEBS will be able to sustain the provision of stipend to the grantees of the DETY Educational Benefit Program until they complete their education.
