Soldiery has always been a demanding call. For what vocation demands that one lay down his life when called upon to do so? Because of the duty they are obliged to undertake, many and different stories of soldiers who, being true to their promise, have sacrificed not only their lives, but more so their dreams…not only for themselves but also for their families.

      They live a life of selflessness as they fulfill their commitment to serve, protect and love God, country and people. They spend most of their lives fighting for the nation's security, missing almost the best and the most important years of their children and families.

      They hate war, yet they go to war. Countless times have they been baptized with fire and seen the horrors of war. And though they always long for peace and yearns for home, a soldier always finds he spent the best years of his life fighting…for each Filipino's peace…for each Filipino's security…for each Filipino's freedom.

      With all these sacrifices and offerings, numerous medals and recognitions of heroism have been awarded. Each medal and award spoke of a courageous heart that fought to the last breath…and of families – parents, wives and children who have given and sacrificed more than they can offer, and who have accepted more than they can understand.

      Through it all, our soldiers will continue to dedicate their service, their lives and their honor to accomplish the duty they have sworn to fulfill. Their stories may pass but the legendary heroism they have displayed will not. What they have offered and what they have sacrificed will always prove that a soldier is not just a hero…a soldier is more than a man .
